Soundfront, Long Island, NY

Perched atop a high bluff overlooking the Long Island Sound this 8+ acre family compound is nestled into a forest of twisted black cherries.  In addition to a comprehensive Master Plan for the property,  MPLA prepared a woodland restoration plan to remove invasive plants and restore it with native plantings.  The sleek yet rustic architecture of the modern barn-like house and guest house drove the design of the walking paths adjacent to the house, including the gravel parking court and stepping stone paths.  MPLA also designed a large vegetable garden with raised cedar beds, terraced berry trellises,  and a custom potting bench.  Behind it, a mature fruit orchard overlooks the adjacent farm fields.
