SOUNDFRONT MODERN
Shoreham, NY
Soundfront Modern, created in collaboration with Blaze Makoid Architects, is a restrained yet powerful expression of indoor-outdoor living. Perched high atop a wooded bluff overlooking the Long Island Sound, the home is immersed in a canopy of mature trees, where filtered light and expansive water views define the experience.
A sweeping entry drive through a no-mow fescue lawn and plantings choreographs arrival, revealing the architecture gradually through the woodland. As part of the entry courtyard, a modern koi pond creates a moment of calm reflection before the landscape opens toward the bluff’s edge. There, MPLA designed a two sided infinity pool which extends seamlessly toward the horizon, visually merging with the Sound beyond.
Layered plantings anchor the modern architecture to its natural setting, softening edges while preserving sightlines. The result is a contemporary coastal landscape that feels grounded, immersive, and quietly dramatic.
